Further to our communication last October and in line with this, you
will no doubt have noticed that we have installed the two programmable
type heaters in the upper hall. If you recall these were intelligent
types that can be programmed for every hour in the week and for two
different temperatures. The intentional use for these heaters were
to not let the hall cool off overnight too much and provide a small
boost prior to the hall being used and allow the main ticket heaters
to get the temperature up quickly. This they are doing well. Some fine
tuning regarding the time slots may be required but this can be done
relatively easily by anyone who has the instructions. (And I have the
instructions!) These heaters are running off the hall ring circuit
and not the heating circuit so their power is not coming from the heating
cards.
We are still awaiting the guards which have been on order for some
time but they will switch down in temperature just prior to the hall
being used by our little people.
PLEASE DO NOT SWITCH THESE HEATERS OFF. - Although no harm should
come to them they will re program from the controller when they switched
back on again.
PLEASE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE ALTER THE PROGRAMMER. This would cause
quite a few hours of work to re boot the system properly.
Essentially, these heaters will provide an economic room warming but
will not provide the basic working temperature which if you recall
was to be done by conventional night storage.
Part 2
We will continue with our plan of installing a further two night
storage heaters. This we were hoping to do before now but unfortunately
the installation costs increased three fold when the guesstimate
turned to a quotation. We are still negotiating this. When these
heaters are installed they will provide the main heat source (some
130% more and on top of the intelligent type). As our recent fund
raising events have been very successful, we will be onto this
directly.
The theory is that both the storage and intelligent heaters will provide
the temperature for the morning users and the intelligent units will
stop the hall from getting too cold overnight and provide comfortable
conditions for the evening users.
Further to this we have had an independent survey done on the
insulation in the loft. This does not meet the present
accepted standard and unfortunately can not be redone from council
grants. A percentage can qualify, but this would still leave us with
a cost of over £1000.
We are still investigating alternative grants.
Our thanks for the fund raisers and supporters who have provided
the means for this capital expense so far and for the storage
heaters and installation. Approximate costs on this heating installation
(to completion) will be £5,500.00 (excluding any
new loft insulation).
